I. PERSONAL DATA

Generally speaking, it is possible to visit the Groupe CAN website without disclosing any personal information. In any event, you are under no obligation to disclose this type of information to Groupe CAN.

However, should you refuse to disclose such information, you may be refused access to certain information and services that you have requested on the site. As such, in certain cases, Gropue CAN may indeed be led to ask you to provide your surname, first name, email address, telephone number, company name and position (hereinafter your “personal data”). In providing this information, you expressly agree for them to be processed by Groupe CAN, and for the purposes outlined in point 2 below.

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation adopted by the European Parliament on 14 April 2016, and the most recently amended version of the French law on Data Processing, Data Files and Individual Liberties (Loi Informatique et Libertés) of 6 January 1978, CAN informs you of the following points :

Gropue CAN is the sole recipient of your personal data. Whatever form it takes, whether individual or combined, your personal data shall never be shared with a third party. Groupe CAN does not sell the personal data of visitors or users of its site.

4. How long the personal data is retained

Your personal data will be retained by Gropue CAN only for the time needed to successfully collect the necessary information for the purposes outlined in point 2 above, and which, at all events, shall never exceed 24 months.

5. Rights concerning data processing and individual liberties

You have the following rights concerning your personal data, and you can exercise those rights by writing to us at the address mentioned in point 1.

Right of access to and disclosure of your data

You can access all of your own personal data. However, due to the safety and confidentiality obligations governing the way in which personal data held by CAN is processed, you are advised that your request will be granted only on condition that you provide proof of your identity, such as a signed photocopy of a valid identity document (request to be sent in writing). Be advised that it is CAN’s right, where appropriate, to refuse any requests that are overtly unreasonable (either in terms of their quantity, or their repeated and systematic nature).

Right to correct data

Current legislation entitles you to ask to correct, update, block access to and even delete any personal data which concerns you, should it prove inaccurate, erroneous, incomplete or obsolete.

Right to object to the use of your personal data

You are entitled to exercise this right only in one of the following two circumstances :

When it is based on legitimate grounds; or
When it is in objection to the use of your personal data for marketing purposes.

6. Response time

CAN undertakes to respond to your request for access or correction, to any objection or any other request for extra information within a reasonable period of time, and no later than one month after having received your request.

II. COOKIE POLICY

The first time you visit the CAN website, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen informing you that information about your browsing activity may be stored in files called “cookies”.

What is a cookie ?

A cookie is a small text file, managed by your browser, which stores on your device certain types of technical information about your browsing activity. Please note that cookies are not executable files, nor are they spyware or computer viruses. However, certain cookies make it possible to track a user’s browser history of certain websites for commercial means.

How does it work ?

When you visit a website, anonymous cookies are automatically sent to the server. Once the cookies have been created, it enhances your ‘user experience’ as you browse the internet. Most modern browsers let users decide if they want to accept or refuse cookies, and manage how long they are stored (see the procedure explained further below). YouTube and Vimeo also use cookies to count the number of views for the videos displayed on the CAN site.

The CAN site uses only a small amount of your personal data, but please note that the cookies directly linked to our site expire after a maximum of one month. These cookies are useful to us, for instance to use Google Analytics, which gives statistics about our web page traffic and user activity. However, it also gives us other information, such as the geographical location of our web visitors, what browser you are using and which version, and how you originally reached our site (via social media, or a search engine …) .
